the lightbulb moment...

Empty Lamps began after i had been working on a house renovation at work. As an electrician i come across all sorts of lighting designs but this one job was something completely different. The client had used black MDF on some internal walls and roofing downstairs. White batten holder fittings we spray painted black and were installed in recessed boxes and fitted with the reinvented filament bulb. I loved these bulbs and how they were being used and so i came up with a timber design i could build to hold one of these bulbs. I sought out some guidance from a cabinet maker friend and my fathers carpentry skills and began creating various shapes and sized lamps using recycled as well as new timbers. Thanks to people requesting floor lamps and pendants the collection continues to grow in ways i could never have imagined.
